Registration Information:

To sign up for one of our classes listed below, stop by our shop, or call us at 607-973-2885. Class fees must be paid in full at the time of registration and supply lists will be available when you register. We offer a discount of 15% for all class materials that are purchased at Wooly Minded. We only issue refunds if we need to cancel a class. CLASSES & GROUPS – WINTER 2010
Gloves

GlovesWho doesn’t need more gloves? As this class will show they need not be hard to make. You will learn how to use double pointed needles and how to avoid those pesky holes at the base of the fingers.

Dates:  Fridays, Jan 15 & 22; 6:00 - 9:00 pm

Continental Knitting

Do you watch in awe as you see other knitters ‘picking’ rapidly at their yarn as you continue to ‘throw’ yours? If you are already a competent ‘thrower’ (American or English style) but want to change styles, this is the class for you. Bring your own yarn and needles and take the opportunity to learn the Continental (or German) method of knitting that many find so much quicker to do.

The Big Felted Bag

Big Felted BagThis class is designed for true beginners or those needing a refresher on the basic skills. Over the 4 weeks you will learn to knit, purl, cast on, bind off, increase & decrease stitches, pick-up stitches, and how felting works. At the end of it all you have a great bag to hold all your next knitting projects.

Sybellia Scarf

Sybellia ScarfThis beautiful scarf from Berroco Knits uses a reverse cable technique so there is no right or wrong side. Perfect for anyone ready to try cabling.

Heart Sachet

Heart SachetTo prove that good things come in little packages, this heart shaped sachet makes use of a very small amount of yarn to create a thing of beauty. It is worked in mitred squares that build upon each other. A fun technique coupled with some small challenges for the adventurous amongst you!

Marisa's Finishing School

Marisa has completed the TKGA course in finishing techniques and will be sharing some of them with you over the next few months, so you will no longer be afraid to tackle that sweater you have always wanted to make. First off is an evening devoted to seaming techniques - there is more to it than you might think!

There is some homework to be completed before class, so please register in good time.

Sock BasicsMake your first socks in this ever popular 3 week class while overcoming your fear of double pointed needles, turning heels and the Kitchener stitch.

Moebius Cowl

Moebius CowlIf you keep up with the fashion magazines you will have seen that cowls are the next great accessory. We will use Cat Bordhi’s Moebius Cast-On as a base and using a choice of stitches you will create your own unique cowl.

Dimensional Needle Felting

Needle Felted OrnamentsConnie Lapp will show you how to create beautiful needle felted ornaments. She assures us it is not hard, and the results are impressive!

Tunisian Crochet

Tunesian CrochetAlso known as Afghan crochet this technique may be familiar to the crocheters among you, but it can go far beyond blankets. Learn to create a fabric that is somewhere between knitted and crocheted, and come away with a lovely spring scarf.

Wondrous & Mystical Pentrapazoidal Entrelac Bag!

Entrelac BagIf you enjoyed making your first entrelac scarf, this is another great project that looks way more complicated than it really is. The pattern gives a variety of sizes so there is something for everyone here.

It is important that you are comfortable with basic knitting techniques before taking any of the above classes. If you are unsure and feel you need to brush up on your skills before class, please check when registering and consider taking ‘Knitting Basics’ or ‘Make your own Class’ if necessary.

ON-GOING GATHERINGS –WINTER 2010
Knitting Basics

Complete novices will learn to how hold needles and yarn, cast on, make the knit and purl stitches, and bind off. Taking it at your own pace, you will start working on a small project, and gain the confidence to move on to bigger things. Lessons can be given almost any time – just call in to make an appointment.

Cost:  Individual – $15/1-hour session
Or come with a friend, a child or a parent – $10 each/1-hour session

Make Your Own Class

Have you forgotten everything you ever knew about knitting? Do you need some one-on-one help with a project? Do you want to learn the skills from a class but the times are inconvenient? Simply call in to make an appointment and we will do what we can to help.

Sock of the Month Club

Are you addicted to knitting socks? Come and work on whatever is on your needles, or step up to the challenge as we test our skills with new techniques. Receive a 15% discount on any supplies you buy during the meeting.

Wilma's Woolies After Dark

Start winding down for the weekend with Wilma and friends. Come join us to knit or crochet and chat (or just chat!). Receive a 15% discount on any supplies you buy during the meeting.

Charity Saturday

Join us for a couple of hours each month working on items to be donated to the Steuben County Domestic Violence Shelter. Baby blankets, as well as hats, gloves and mittens for all ages are their needs.
